Western Oklahoma Historical Society is busy planning for the 50th Annual Route 66 Flea Market to be held October 6-8, 2023. The Flea Market Committee anticipates vendors renting over 200 spaces in Ackley Park. As the Historical Society’s main fundraiser, the Flea Market has become an Elk City tradition.
The Flea Market began in 1972 under the leadership of June Parry and Emmajean Barton and has continued to attract vendors and customers every year since except for the Pandemic year of 2020. This year the Committee consists of Doug Haught, Cindy Wood, and Beverly Jordan, all Western Oklahoma Historical Society Board members. They encourage all prospective vendors to contact them as soon as possible since spaces are renting fast.
The Flea Market boasts that it includes “Oldtiques, Antiques, and Collectibles.” Attendees can purchase anything from T-shirts to Depression glassware and everything in between. Many food booths will be available catering to all tastes. Unique shopping opportunities, delicious food, and beautiful fall weather combine to make the Route 66 Flea Market an event not to be missed.
