The Western Oklahoma Historical Society established the Western Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 1972 to honor citizens from western Oklahoma for bringing attention to, preserving the heritage of, or providing a more prosperous future for western Oklahoma. Inductees are chosen annually and honored with a banquet and a commemorative plaque. A large plaque hangs in the Old Town Museum with the names of all inductees and the year of their induction. The nominating person must be a member of Western Oklahoma Historical Society. If the person is not a member, he/she may join as an individual $20.00, Family $35.00, Pioneer $100.00, Business $500.00, or Lifetime $1,000.00.
